1. To carry on the business of electric power generation and supply in all its branches and to construct, lay-down, establish, fix and carry out all work for necessary power stations, cables, wires, lines, accumulators, lamps, works and to generate, accumulate, transmit, trade, distribute and supply electricity to cities, towns, streets, docks, markets, theatres, buildings and places both public and private and to explore, develop, extract, produce, transmit, transform, accumulate, bank, trade, distribute and supply of all kinds of energy, power and fuel by adopting any process and any source whatsoever.
2. To generate, harness, develop, transmit, trade and accumulate electric power by setting up Thermal-Power Plants including gas-based, coal-based plants and all other types of power-plants like, Diesel-Power, Multi Fuel Based Power, Hydro- Power, Mini-Hydel Power, Micro-Hydel Power, Nuclear Power plants and also to generate electric power by wind, solar, tidal and other sources of energy; and supply and distribute such generated power, either directly or through, State Electricity Boards or Power Trading Corporation or Transmission companies or Distribution companies or others to consumers of electricity on commercial basis.
3. To own, promote, set up, establish, develop, maintain, run, operate and manage generating company, generating station or stations of every kind and description for generating electricity from any source, whether conventional or non-conventional, whether now existing or known or invented, developed, made known thereafter, including hydro, wind, solar, tidal, biogas, waste material whether liquid, gaseous or solid or any combination thereof, thermal, geo-thermal, coal, gas including liquefied natural gas, naphta, oil, diesel, nuclear, cogeneration or otherwise including any building and plant with step-up transformer, switch gear, switch yard, cables or other appurtenant equipment, if any, used for generating station, and any building used for housing the operating staff of a generating station, and where the electricity is generated by water-power, includes penstock, head and tail works, main and regulating reservoirs, dams and other hydraulic works.
4. To own, promote, set up, establish, develop, maintain, run, operate and manage power system of every kind and description [whether on a BOO (Build, Own Operate) basis or BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer) basis or BOLT (Build, Own, Lease and Transfer) basis or otherwise], for generation, transmission, distribution, and supply of electricity including generating stations; transmission or main transmission lines; sub-stations; tie-lines; load dispatch activities; mains or distribution mains; electric supply line; overhead lines; service lines; works.
5. To undertake any activity which the Company is permitted to undertake, including as a generating company and a licensee, under the electricity laws for the time being in force and rules and regulations made thereunder.
